We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the How Do You Measure a Marriage? (Acoustic Version), once again featuring the incomparable Beth Leavel.
Why are we doing this? It’s illuminating to experience the impact a change in instrumentation has on a song. Paul Staroba’s piano accompaniment on the original version couldn’t be more beautiful. Danny’s acoustic version is also beautiful — but different. Is it more modern? More intimate? You’ll have to give it a listen on October 27th on your favorite streaming platform and let us know.
There’s another significant difference between the two versions of the song: The new version doesn’t include the intro, because the intro only makes sense in the context of the whole show.
Without the introduction, the song becomes a standalone that can be performed by any cabaret artist (of a certain age).
